SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Limits on the amount of money that political parties can contribute to candidates in city of San Diego elections were given final approval Tuesday by the City Council.

Under the ordinance, which is expected to take effect in mid-July, parties will be able to give $20,000 to candidates for mayor and city attorney, and $10,000 to those running for City Council.

Move of city employees expected to save $6 million PDF Print E-mail

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The City Council Monday unanimously approved a move of around 400 municipal employees from one downtown office tower to another, which is expected to save between $5-7 million over the next five years.

The employees of the Public Utilities and Public Works Departments have been housed at 600 B St. for 22 years, but will move to 525 B St. in a couple of months.

SAN ONOFRE (CNS) - Southern California Edison announced Thursday that it has taken the formal administrative step necessary to retire the two reactors at the troubled San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station.

The majority owner and operator of the plant said it filed a Certification of Permanent Cessation of Power Operations with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Wednesday.
